Championing diversity within Ambulance Services
A partnership of Ambulance Services celebrating the sexual orientations and gender identities of all our patients, colleagues and communities.
Our Mission & Vision
We strive to promote equality and understanding within the ambulance service.
Our network unites various ambulance services to advocate for the rights and recognition of LGBT+ individuals. Together, we work towards a more inclusive healthcare environment for all.
With tensions and hatred towards the LGBT+ community on the rise, The National Ambulance LGBT+ Network will remain steadfast in its commitment to supporting all sexualities and gender identities. We will continue to champion the work and achievements of all involved.
The NALGBT+ Network changed leadership in November 2025 following an election process and is pleased to have James 'JP' Pearson (he/him) as Chair and Steph Meech (she/her) as Deputy Chair, we are certain under their leadership the Network will continue to strive.
JP has outlined his priorities below:
Standing strong in support of our trans+ colleagues, patients, and community especially in the face of increasing hostility. The Network must be visible, proactive, and unwavering in its solidarity, resisting exclusionary guidance with authenticity and compassion.
Update and expand clinical and workforce guidance to reflect the evolving realities of patient care and colleague experiences. As LGBT+ Lead for SWASFT, JP has been working with the National Race Equality and Women’s Networks to revise HIV guidance, an important step toward stigma-free, inclusive care reflecting todays shifting demographics.
Looking ahead, we’re keen to broaden our reach by welcoming representation from Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, and the Isle of Wight. We would also like to speak with private providers in the UK. Only then can we truly say we represent the full UK ambulance family. If you or someone you know is active in their local LGBT+ Network in these areas, we’d love to hear from you!
